Nisar Malik

Nisar Malik is the veteran filmmaker behind Walkabout Films, a production house renowned for capturing high-end visuals for National Geographic, Animal Planet, and Discovery Channel. His career reached a global peak with the BBC’s Snow Leopard: Beyond the Myth, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, which won “Best of Festival” at the 2008 International Wildlife Film Festival. This landmark project transitioned him from news journalism to a world-class specialist in wildlife and adventure cinematography.

Beyond the screen, Malik is a dedicated conservationist who uses his work to advocate for Pakistan’s endangered species, such as the Himalayan brown bear in Deosai: The Last Sanctuary. Through his ‘Give Back Project,’ he provides free environmental education to the local communities featured in his films. He balances these creative pursuits with high-stakes logistics, logging over 1,000 aerial hours in helicopters to execute remote projects and earthquake relief missions in areas inaccessible to the common traveller.

His mission is driven by a desire to overcome collective indifference toward biodiversity and the lack of local tourism infrastructure. He remains committed to showcasing Pakistan’s natural history, believing that visual information is the most powerful tool for preservation.
